I Wanted To Write A Poem (Writing Exercise)

I wanted to write a poem
So I thought about what it could be
To write a poem without knowing
Where it would go or what it might mean to me.

So I started jotting down words
To see where they might lead
And, what do you know, strange as it sounds,
The words flowed out, indeed.

I wanted to write a poem,
So I put paper to my pen,
And when it was done, the words complete,
My poem came to an end.
