The Lesson of the Moth - Don Marquis (Brief Synopsis)
Someone read this one in class tonight, and I thought it was beautiful. It's very philosophical, which could explain why I like it so much. The author sees a moth trying to get into a light bulb to electrocute himself into oblivion, so he asks the moth why he does it. The moth responds in this very poetic (no pun intended; that really is the best word to describe it) manner about how life is meant to be lived to the fullest and how you can't just go around not taking chances because that's not really living. It was exactly the poem I needed to hear tonight. It made me feel better on so many levels. I will post it in a separate blog so you can read it. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed listening to it.
